A Road Agent always has a bag.
You need to be practical.
You need a way to move about.
You need something to read.
You need somewhere to keep gifts given to you.
Practicality

We aim for survival.
Being poor, or rich doesn't matter.
We want to be comfortable with what we have, and when we have to much we want to give it away to those that don't have it. That is how the world should work. Right now it doesn't though. And when you are moving from place to place (in physical or mental worlds) you should have a bag. Something that you can hold your real needs in. Whether that be food and drink, a good book, or just your ideas.
That is the practical side of a bag. It is a Tool. And you need Tools to make your way down this road. Because the walk can be a long one, and sometimes it can not only be lonely, it can be dangerous.
A bag can give you freedom. Maybe you need your bag to escape the situation that you are in. Maybe you need your bag to arrive at your final destination. This is the simplest of ideas to me. This is just about knowing what you need, versus what you want.
What you need...
...That can fit in a bag.

Let me give you the "Live Rich" angle on this... in regards to the book I am reading.
For me, The Priest I suppose, I refrain from theiving as much as possible. Only in desperation do I justify it for myself. No, the priest is a liar. And I save my talents for being the liar.
That said, I am a keeper of needs and wants. I keep what I need close to me. Since I cannot justify stealing my wants, I choose to save for them. But I have started a system of "bags" for my wants.
I will always be able to walk away from these bags because what I need I carry close and money is not my saviour anyways. But I have hidden bags with purpose for attaining my wants.
This is getting good.
