"So what can we embrace in place of History? Myth. Not the obscurist superstitions and holy lies of religion and capitalism, but the democratic myths of storytellers. Myth makes no claims to false impartiality or objective Truth, it does not purport to offer an exhaustive explanation of the cosmos. Myth belongs to everyone, as it is made and remade by everyone, so it can never be used by one croup to lord itself over another. And it does no paralyze - instead of trapping people in the chains of cause and effect, myth makes them conscious of the enormous range of possibilities that their own lives have to offer; instead of making
them feel helplessly small in a vast and uncaring universe, it centers the world again on their own experiences and ambitions as represented by those of others. When we tell tales around the fire at night of heroes and heroines, of other struggles and adventures and societies, we are offering each other examples of just how much living is possible."

When we sit around our camp fires (read bars) who are the heroes we are telling stories about. Sure sometimes it is Dillinger, Rollins, Bukowski, McLaren. But the reality is that the heroes of this tale is us. We are the legends the myths of today. We are the ones who stand over vanquished foes and draw beautiful women to our lips. And everyday we are making those tales more and more real.
With our words we are telling the world who we are and what we are capable of doing.
With our actions we reinforce those words.
Each of us becoming more mythic with each passing day.

And that is a story that we only control from its inception. From when we tell tales of our heroic nights and deeds and our thoughts on this society and what it can be, to the time those words worm their way into people minds and they can see that what we are saying really is what we believe it grows and blooms into something new, and real and alive. And soon in their minds it grows and blooms more, and they begin to create their own myth. They begin to create their own legend.
And when we talk of the world made new again, it doesn't seem so far away.
And when we talk of love and adventure as a way of life, it doesn't seem so unreal.
And when we talk of creating our own values and our own value, it doesn't seem so blasphemous. To know that every day we are loving God with everything and our neighbors like ourselves the best we can. And that we will never allow someone to tell us that we are worth less than we know we are worth ever again.
So I know what I'm doing. I'm never looking back. I'm learning from my past and my mistakes, and I will never let go of good memories that I have built up over this life time. But I will constantly seek the future, I will constantly enjoy this moment, and this moment, and this moment, and I will always be making my own myth. I will always have a new story of love and adventure and art and joy to tell you. And I will always have a story of picking wild flowers in the streets of empty cities, and hope that one day we can have a world where everyone else sees that in simplicity and love are real happiness.

I explained this to Trudy and she was blown away. It made too much sense. She also gulped at the creating of values/value. Which I am gonna write.
I'm constantly explaining this to everyone that crosses my path. And tonight sM. bringing someone new around, so a whole new crop of myths is about to bloom!
This made me smile. And...I won't lie...it made me want to give you a hug too.
